EBB AND FLOW

I had an allergic reaction to the prawns I ate last night -- this has never happened before. I have never had a food allergy of any sort. But, almost immediately, my mouth began to tingle, my throat was scratchy, and my nose started to run. My 30 Clean health coach said that when we begin to eat clean, we are often times more in tune with our bodies. Maybe I already had this issue but didn't notice it as severely or brushed it off as something else. Possibly. Although, the one thing that stands out is that I roasted these prawns with their shells on (something I don't normally do).

A co-challenger of mine who is a professor at Santa Clara University said that the prawns may have eaten plankton with toxins in it -- it causes something called "paralytic shellfish poisoning", which is usually very mild, just like tingling. Since I kept the shells on, there may have been a little more "stuff" left on the shrimp than if I had shelled them. So nasty. I'm taking a break from shellfish for a couple of weeks then will reintroduce them and see what happens. So fun when the science experiement is on you.

Thankfully, the Zyrtec I took totally helped. The unfortunate side effect of the antihistamine was that it zapped my happy buzz. I was just so tired all day yesterday. Hopefully it comes back. And soon.
